The Opponent ("we", "our", "us") is a sports matchmaking app that helps players discover nearby opponents, challenge them, and track their performance across multiple sports. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
- Email address — for account creation and login
- Phone number (optional) — for account recovery
- Display name and nickname — shown to other players
- Profile photo (optional) — displayed on your profile
2.2 Location Data
- Precise location — used to find nearby players and show distance on the radar. Location is only collected when the app is in use and you have granted permission.
2.3 Gameplay Data
- Sport preferences — which sports you play (snooker, badminton, tennis, table tennis, chess, carrom, PS5)
- Match history — wins, losses, ratings, and match results
- Avatar selection — your chosen in-app avatar
2.4 Financial Information
- UPI ID (optional) — for wallet payouts and match stakes. We do not store full bank account or card details.
2.5 Device and Usage Information
- Device type and operating system
- App usage patterns (screens viewed, features used)
- Crash reports and diagnostics (via Firebase)
3. How We Use Your Information
- App functionality — matching you with nearby opponents, displaying leaderboards, managing challenges
- Personalisation — showing relevant players based on your sport, skill level, and location
- Communication — sending match notifications, challenge invites, and important account updates
- Safety and integrity — preventing fraud, verifying match results, and maintaining fair play
- Analytics — understanding how the app is used to improve the experience
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We may share limited data with:
- Firebase (Google) — for authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting
- Payment processors — for processing wallet transactions (UPI)
- Ad partners — anonymised data for displaying relevant ads (non-premium users only)
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Match history is retained for leaderboard and rating calculations. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Withdraw location permission at any time via device settings
- Opt out of non-essential communications
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including:
- Firebase Authentication with secure token management
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firestore security rules restricting data access to authorised users
8. Children's Privacy
The Opponent is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
